Since we were talking about Camp Hollywood last night, I did some quick research this morning to see what dates/costs/etc look like. Here is the scoop:
July 27th-July 30th, 2006 $170 = all access pass for all classes and dances $80 for dances only + $35 to watch daytime comps
Group rate of $105/night at the LAX Marriott for single or double rooms
I even looked at flights, right now you can book a nonstop flight from JFK to LAX for $300 round-trip. I am sure this is subject to change but if we decide to go I would book early to get a good price on the tix. :-)
So, is anyone interested for real? I am definitely interested but want to start planning now so I can save some $$.

Sarah,
I'm serious about going to CH every year. Then June rolls around and I'm still flat broke. Well this year I may not be so broke but time off may be an issue instead. I'll have a better idea within the next month or so but I'm always up for the trip. Especially if we had the crew we had last night....whoah that would be fun. We'd have to do the typical "10 dancers to a room" thing just for effect.
Let's do it.

If you do go, make sure you check out the Great White Shark diving adventures that are in Cali. I have always wanted to film a Great White, with or without a Shark Cage. It would be cool because I have realtives in that area of California that dont care if I crash with them. Perhaps next year.

Hmm, lets see. Do I care about sharks? Nope. But I do really want to dance in LA... I think I will spend my money on that if I go to Cali... :-)

as if you ever have time to do anything else at an exchange weekend, even swimming with sharks. Who would want to?
Sarah, you know if you pressure me i'll cave in and go. :-) Especially if a group ends up going. It sounds like so much fun.
I still refuse to go to large dances and exchanges alone, due to nefarious individuals who I dont want to run into anymore. (is it really bad to wish that your ex has a penile avulsion on the dance floor???) Unfortuantely, I'm getting more bitter as time goes on, not less. If only I had a therapist, I'm sure she'd have something to say about that. :-)
Anyway, has anyone heard that they dance "funny" at camp hollywood? Someone was complaining about how frustrating it can be for easterners to go to there. Not that i'd let that stop me, I was just curious.
In an unrelated issue - is anyone else going to the all-bal weekend in NYC at the end of february? The boilermakers are going to be there! I already signed up.

Eh, different strokes for different folks.
I would go to the all bal weekend, but I am saving for a trip to Dominica or possibly Trinidad and Tobago. I have not SCUBA dived in sooooo long, that I miss it alot. Still, I will be at the boilermaker dance on Saturday.
I love dancing, but I am going to make it take a back seat this year to diving. I have a bunch of wrecks I want to check out, and need to funnel my money that way.

Excellent; I will start pressuring you immediately, Donna. As long as I have someone else on board, I am going to at least attempt to get a group together. Tommy James said he would definitely go, as he has family out there, etc.
Registration opens in March, I think. I figure if we start paying for pieces of the trip as we go along, it won't be too bad.

I am thinking about going as well. As long as: 1. I don't get committed to an assylum by then. 2. I have the $$$$$. (Gotta do some vintage shopping while I'm there, right? Last time I stayed an extra two days, rented a car, and went shopping. At least a few of the places I went were affordable. Remix shoes also has their retail shop there. 3. Someone can assure that it will be better than last time I went. I know that they have good years and bad years like anything else, but my last experience left me not particularly wanting to go back unless I had "extra money".

Jalhorn, I felt that way about Lindygras, which is why I skipped out on it this year. I didnt think it was great and didn't want to waste another $500 bucks on going to a storm-ravaged city this year.

Sarah, I'm planning on going. When you actually go online to buy your ticket, call me and we'll buy it together. This way I know you're locked in . I'm just afraid of people backing out at the last minute if I buy my stuff early. If I know that a few of us are definately going then I won't worry so much. Oh, and are you planning on staying just the weekend or making a little trip out of it. That might be cool too! Brad, Perhaps we should wait for something a little closer to home to cram 10 people in one room. If I'm staying up all night, I need a bed....I don't care who I share it with.....but I definately need it.

Sounds like a plan. I am thinking I will book the flight sometime in Feb/March when I get my tax return money. :-) And I definitely need a bed to sleep in as well, so I would limit room occupancy to 4, unless anyone over 4 wants to sleep on the floor...

Alright kids, it's time to get semi-serious. I have a competing offer for the same weekend as this shindig, and that offer involves actually getting paid for dancing instead of the other way around. I do have my $$ still set aside for my plane ticket to LA, but I need to know if the gang is in or out. What do y'all say?
